Dimethyl Sebacate is a fatty acid methyl ester derived from sebacic acid, with the molecular formula C₁₂H₂₂O₄. It serves as a plasticizer known for its rapid absorbency and low residual tack. Dimethyl Sebacate is synthesized through the esterification of sebacic acid. This substance appears as a colourless to yellowish oily liquid, possesses a characteristic smell, and is free of foreign materials. It is insoluble in water but dissolves in organic solvents.

Application

• It acts as an intermediate to produce Light stabilizers for hindered amines.
• Used as a softening agent, solvent for cellulosic resins, synthetic resins and rubbers.
• Used in automotive care, fillers, paints, pesticides, greases and food contact applications.
